1.  Where can I find pricing on renting the banquet room or information about weddings?
Click here to be taken to the "weddings/banquet room rental" page on our website.  On that page, in blue letters, is our "John Ernest Vineyard & Winery rental contract," which will provide all of the information on pricing for weddings, rehearsal dinners, baby showers, bridal showers, class reunions and more.  Read through the contract thoroughly and then contact JEV with any further information.  The rental of our facility is not reserved until the $100 deposit is made and the contract is fully signed.  Thank you.
Let it be known that we only rent our facility out along with the silverware, plates, tables and chairs to accommodate 72 people.  It is up the renting party to gather all the necessary supplies to complete your event, such as extra chairs, tables, linens, chair covers, tent, outside lighting and decorations.

2. What can we bring to entertainment events at the winery?
We encourage you to bring picnic baskets filled with your choice of snacks for the entertainment.  No outside alcohol is to be brought onto the premises.  JEV does have a selection of cheeses, chocolates, soda, water and gatorade available for purchase.

*  Each location sells different varieties of our wine. Please call to see what varieties they carry before
making a special trip.

4. What varieties of grapes does John Ernest Vineyard grow?

John Ernest Vineyard produces a variety of grapes such as Edelweiss, LaCrosse, Marechal Foch, Fontenac, St. Croix, St. Pepin, Concord and Frontenac Gris.

And thanks to our independent growers, we are able to bring you larger quantities of your favorite JEV wines each year because of them!

5. Where does the name John Ernest come from?
Our winery is named after Mr. John Ernest Kopsa.  He and his wife DeDe are owners of the winery along with their kids, Vicki, Karen, Joel and Jeff Kopsa.  No, the family name is NOT Ernest, it's Kopsa, a Czechoslovakian name.
6. What's the policy on shipping wine?

Currently, JEV is only allowed to ship to the following states without the required shipping permit: Alaska, Iowa, Florida, Minnesota, New Mexico and Washington D.C.

If you'd like to ship wine within the state of Iowa....HOORAY!  We can do that for you.  All  you need to do is call with how many bottles you'd like shipped, which varieties of wine, the receiver's name and address and your credit card number.  It usually takes 2-3 business days to receive our wine shipment in Iowa.  We can ship in increments of 2 bottles, 4 bottles, 6 bottles and 12 bottles.  The fee is very reasonable to do so also.

If you're wanting to ship wine to any other state than listed above....please contact your legislator and inform them they need to do more to legalize the shipment of wine commercially without the wineries having to pay a large shipping permit yearly.  These shipping regulations have become more enforced within the last year and make it almost impossible to ship wines to our customers who visit our winery while traveling.

And don't forget, if you're traveling and you find a wine you absolutely love, the only way to get it back home if you're flying is to wrap it up in some clothes and check your luggage.  The Transportation Security Administration only allows 3.4 ounces or smaller of liquid containers for your carry on.
